FAMILY SUPPORT SERVICES

Support for Families in Crisis

The Nichols Center stands as a pillar of support for families grappling with the challenges of addiction, mental illness, and loss. Recognizing the complex needs of those affected by these issues, the center offers a comprehensive array of Family Support Services designed to guide, comfort, and empower families through their most difficult moments.

Recovery Support for Families Facing Addiction and Mental Illness

For families with loved ones battling active addiction or mental illness, the path forward can seem daunting and unclear.

The Nichols Center steps in to illuminate this path, offering weekly support groups that provide a lifeline of resources and guidance. These groups create a safe space for families to share experiences, learn about available support options, and develop strategies to help their loved ones while maintaining their own well-being.

Caregiver Support: A Network of Compassion

Recognizing the unique challenges faced by caregivers, the center offers specialized support groups for those caring for aging adults or individuals with disabilities. These groups provide a vital network of peer support, allowing caregivers to connect with others who understand their journey. Additionally, the center offers resources focused on self-care and mindfulness, essential tools for maintaining the caregiver's own health and resilience.

Grief and Loss Support: Healing Together

The profound impact of losing a loved one to overdose, mental illness, or sudden death can leave families struggling to cope. The Nichols Center provides a compassionate environment where families can openly discuss their grief and emotions. Trained clinical support staff offer trauma support and facilitate grief sharing sessions, helping families navigate the complex terrain of loss and begin their healing journey.

Educational Advocacy: Empowering Families

Understanding the importance of education in a child's life, especially for those with special needs, the center's family advocacy coordinator provides invaluable support for families navigating the complexities of 504 plans and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Beyond individual advocacy, the center offers educational workshops and training sessions aimed at strengthening family connections within the community, fostering a supportive network that extends beyond the center's walls.

Through these comprehensive Family Support Services, the Nichols Center not only addresses the immediate needs of families in crisis but also works to build a stronger, more resilient community. By providing a multifaceted approach to support, the center ensures that no family has to face their challenges alone, offering hope and practical assistance to those who need it most.

Recovery Support

As a family member of someone suffering in active addiction and mental illness it can be challenging to know what resources are available for support or how to help the one you love. At the center we help families navigate these difficult moments and provide support through weekly groups.

Caregiver Support

Caregiver families can connect with a network of support. Families with aging adults, disability needs, or special circumstances can join our caregiver support group and access resources to help with self-care and mindfulness.

Grief & Loss Support

We provide services for families who have lost someone they love to overdose, mental illness, or sudden death. We understand that families might not always have a place to talk openly about the emotions they carry from grief. Our clinical support staff provide trauma support and grief sharing.

Educational Advocacy

Our family advocacy coordinator provides disability and educational advocacy for families needing 504 and IEP support. We also offer educational advocacy workshops and trainings on learning to strengthen family connections within the community
